Dr. Jordan Bender

B.A., D.D.S., M.Sc. (Perio), F.R.C.D.(C)

Dr. Jordan Bender is a board-certified Periodontist with a special interest in periodontal plastic surgery and implant surgery. He obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto in 2001, with the highest overall achievement in the third and fourth years of his program. Prior to dental school, he completed an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at the University of Western Ontario and earned a gold medal for having the highest grades in the faculty. After dental school, Dr. Bender completed a residency program at Mt. Sinai Hospital and received his specialty training and a Masters of Science in Periodontology from the University of Toronto. Dr. Bender is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a staff Periodontist at Mt. Sinai Hospital. He is an active member of the Ontario Society of Periodontics, the American Academy of Periodontology, the International Team for Implantology, and the Ontario Dental Association. On a part-time basis, Dr. Bender acts as a clinical instructor and lecturer at the University of Toronto for the Department of Periodontics, and regularly lectures for several study clubs and continuing education events. In his spare time, Dr. Bender enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is a competitive swimmer and a member of the Aurora Master Ducks Swim Club.

Dr. Vinay Bhide

Dr. Vinay Bhide is a board-certified Periodontist who provides the full scope of surgical periodontal and dental implant therapy. In addition to conventional periodontal procedures such as pocket reduction and crown lengthening, Dr. Bhide has a special interest in esthetic and reconstructive periodontics, procedures including soft tissue grafting for correction of gingival recession, periodontal regeneration, and pre-prosthetic site development procedures such as alveolar ridge augmentation, maxillary sinus floor augmentation (both direct and indirect), and guided bone regeneration (GBR). Dr. Bhide earned his DDS from the University of Toronto in 2001, and subsequently completed a one-year internship at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He completed his Master of Science and specialty training in periodontology at the University of Toronto in 2005. Dr. Bhide is an Examiner and Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Dr. Bhide is also a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). In addition to private practice, Dr. Bhide holds the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto and is involved in didactic and clinical teaching of periodontics at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. He has lectured nationally and internationally on various topics related to periodontology. In his spare time, Dr. Bhide enjoys spending time with this family, running, playing tennis, and of course, reading anything!

AMY

Dr. Amy Yeung

Dr. Amy Yeung is a board certified Periodontist with a special interest in periodontal plastic surgery and implant surgery. Dr. Amy Yeung received her dental degree from the University of Toronto and completed a hospital residency at the Mt. Sinai Hospital. Dr Yeung then went to complete a Graduate program in Periodontics at the University of Toronto. Her research interests includes how metabolic diseases impact healing. Her personal passion is to work together with patients to achieve periodontal health. 

“Usually, my patients have severe gum disease or they have missing teeth and have reached the point of needing surgery. I want to ensure that they are comfortable, understand my treatment recommendations and are motivated to work together to achieve a state of good oral health.”Although her periodontal practice and research studies take up a great deal of her time, Dr. Yeung and her husband love to travel but right now their free time is occupied with watching their 3 girls grow!
 

Fayaaz

Dr. Fayaaz Jaffer

Dr. Fayaaz Jaffer is a board-certified periodontist who has a particular interest in the management of periodontal diseases and its impact on overall dental health.   His philosophy centers on functionality and patient comfort and as a periodontist, he is always committed to the retention of an individual’s natural dentition.  With that said, Dr. Jaffer enjoys the opportunity to rehabilitate and restore missing teeth with implant dentistry and has a keen focus on bone augmentation procedures to maximize implant longevity.  

He completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto followed by a one-year general practice residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital.  He completed his Masters of Science degree in Periodontology at University of Toronto and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.  In addition to working in private practice, Dr. Jaffer is also a part time clinical instructor in the Graduate Periodontology Department at the University of Toronto and is an Examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.    He is on staff at Mount Sinai Hospital currently participating as a clinician in a research program aimed at correcting soft deficiencies between teeth using a novel biomaterial.  He has a passion for teaching, and he loves to spend his Fridays helping young clinicians reach their full potential.  He is a member of the Ontario Society of Periodontists, the American Academy of Periodontology and the International Team of Implantology. 

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids.   His life revolves around kid’s karate, swimming and hockey.   He is also an active member of his local community and believes that in order for any society to thrive, its citizens must collectively work together and give their time and resources for the benefit of all.

Dr. Kerry D'Costa

Dr. Kerry D’Costa is a board-certified Periodontist with extensive surgical experience in all aspects of periodontal therapy. He is adept at both traditional periodontal procedures such as periodontal flap surgery and pocket reduction, crown lengthening, and periodontal
regeneration as well as periodontal plastic surgery including soft tissue gingival grafting, and reconstructive bone grafting including GBR (guided bone regeneration) and sinus lifting (both direct and indirect) for dental implants. Dr. D’Costa treats all patients with empathy and care and strives to educate his patients in order for them to maintain predictable long-term
aesthetic and functional results.
Dr. D’Costa graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo. After working as a Computer Engineer for years, he went on to pursue a career in dentistry. His dental education has included training at the Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine at Boston University and at the Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam, in the Netherlands. Dr. D’Costa obtained both his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and specialty Master of Science degree in Periodontology from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
Dr. D’Costa’s dental experience includes periodontal work at several dental offices throughout the GTA, as well as past work placements at Native reserves in Northern Ontario and Eastern Ontario. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling with his wife, staying active, and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Jonathon Lok

Jonathon

Dr. Jonathan J. Lok is a board-certified Dental Anaesthesiologist trained to provide sedation and general anaesthesia for dental procedures. Dr. Lok graduated from dental school at the University of Toronto in 2001 and went on to complete a one-year general practice residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. In 2004, Dr. Lok completed a two-year program in dental anaesthesia at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is one of a small, elite group of dentists holding these specialized credentials. He continually upgrades his clinical skills and knowledge to provide the safest and most up-to-date personalized care available.

Dr. Lok is a part-time clinical instructor in the graduate dental anaesthesia program at the University of Toronto. His professional affiliations include the Ontario Dental Association, the American Dental Society of Anaesthesiology, the National Dental Board of Anaesthesiology, and the Canadian Academy of Dental Anaesthesia. Dr. Lok is the past president of the Canadian Academy of Dental Anaesthesia.

Dr. Grace Petrikowski

Dr. Petrikowski graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 1985. After completing a one-year dental internship at the University of Alberta Hospital, she entered the Oral Radiology graduate program at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. She completed her Diploma in Oral Radiology in 1988 and commenced a faculty teaching position at the University of Alberta. She completed a Master of Science degree in 1991 through the Department of Applied Sciences in Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta. Dr. Petrikowski remained in Alberta until 1996, when she was offered a teaching position as an Associate Professor with tenure in the Discipline of Oral Radiology at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto. Dr. Petrikowski’s activities included teaching undergraduate and graduate students, as well as research and private practice. Dr. Petrikowski has published a number of peer-reviewed scientific articles in oral and maxillofacial radiology and has contributed chapters to several radiology textbooks. She has lectured locally, nationally and internationally on a variety of oral radiology topics. Dr. Petrikowski remained at the University of Toronto until 2006, at which time she entered full-time private practice. Dr. Petrikowski is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) and is an examiner in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology for the RCDC. She is also a member of the Radiological Society of North America, American Society of Head and Neck Radiology, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, International Association of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology and the Ontario Dental Association. She was also elected as Honorary Fellow of the Pierre Fauchard Academy for outstanding service to the dental profession. Aside from her work in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Dr. Petrikowski is a harpist and an accomplished pianist. She keeps a harp in her private office and has been known to occasionally play for staff and patients.
