COVID 19

To our patients,

The staff of the Aurora Periodontal Centre is closely monitoring the COVID - 19 situation (Corona Virus) that is affecting our community.  The health and safety of our patients and staff is our foremost concern and we appreciate your cooperation and understanding during these challenging times.

As per the recommendation of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO),  our office will be closed for all elective and non-essential treatment at this time.  Emergency treatment will continue to be provided to our patients of record if deemed necessary by our team.  All existing scheduled non-emergent appointments (up to April 1, 2020) will be rescheduled as soon as the RCDSO and/or Public Health indicates that it is safe to do so.

If you believe you have a dental emergency, please email or call the office during business hours.  We are doing our very best to answer the phones and return emails in a timely manner.  If needed, one of our doctors will call you directly.

If it is determined by one of our doctors that your are suffering an emergency needs to be seen in the office, the following considerations will apply:

  1. We will be actively screening patients on the phone and when they present to the office. Patients may be subject to additional screening or referral to their primary health care provider if they have:

    • signs of an upper respiratory tract infection (cough, runny nose, sore throat)

    • a fever (38 degrees Celsius or more)

    • travel outside of Canada within the last 14 days (including the United States)

    • come into close contact with someone who has travelled outside of Canada (including the United States) in the last 14 days and has an acute respiratory illness

    • come into close contact with a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19

  2. Emergency patients are encouraged to attend appointments by themselves when possible to comply with social distancing recommendations. Any escorts with patients are asked to kindly wait outside the office for the patient. A single escort is allowed in the office only if the patient is a minor or is not capable of providing her/his own consent.

  3. Emergency patients will be brought directly to treatment rooms and will bypass the waiting area to avoid contact with other patients.

  4.

Given the fast-changing nature of the pandemic and the response needed to contain it, our protocols will also change with time as needed. We hope you and your family remain healthy and safe.

Regards,

Aurora Periodontal Centre
